2018 Firm Inception
Our seed client is a European corporate pension fund who has been working with the Masterpiece team since 2008. Our client roster includes global corporate pensions, sovereign government entities and asset managers.
We spun out of Analytical Research, a $3 billion hedge fund advisory firm. Three out of six Masterpiece team members worked at Analytical Research. Masterpiece’s Head of Operational Due Diligence, Maureen Hladky, has worked together with Masterpiece founder and Head of Advisory, Aaron Sweeney, at Analytical Research since 2012. Mrs. Hladky has been working in the asset management industry for thirty years across investment and due diligence functions. Mr. Sweeney hired Masterpiece Business Manager Kai Gayles to join Analytical Research in 2016. Recent hires include data analyst Geoffrey Lo and hedge fund analyst Murphy McMahon. The two collaborate to form the foundation for data, analytics and reporting of our manager research client portfolio monitoring.

Masterpiece Advisors is the culmination of over twenty years of Aaron Sweeney’s pioneering activity in the hedge fund industry.
Analytical Research 2008 to 2018
Aaron Sweeney was the firm’s first employee in 2009 when it formed a joint venture with Mr. Sweeney’s former hedge fund research boutique, Event Capital Markets. Swiss hedge fund veteran Stephan Lods was Analytical Research’s founder and Chairman. Mr. Lods’ passion for client service and the global hedge fund industry provided Mr. Sweeney with invaluable tutelage.
Event Capital Markets 2003 to 2008
Event Capital was a dedicated Operational Due Diligence firm, primarily serving a $4 billion Greek family office hedge fund portfolio invested in hundreds of single hedge funds. Mr. Sweeney spent from 2004 to 2008 trading equities by day for international investment banks and writing hedge fund research reports by night for Event Capital Markets. Event Capital’s founder was Robert Krause, a derivatives expert and Mr. Sweeney’s mentor at Zurich Capital Markets where Mr. Krause was the Global Head of Due Diligence for an active multi-billion, over one thousand hedge fund structured products derivatives desk.
